Tanezrouft Voyages was founded by Mohamed Haffaoui in 1989 in In-Salah, about 700km north of Tamanrasset.
Mohamed Haffaoui followed into the footsteps of his father, a renowned guide and caravaneer. As a young boy he experienced the traditional nomadic way of life. The camels of his familly migrated between Immidir and Ahnet, years which established his intimate knowlege of this desert region and made him a skilfull cameleer and guide.
The eighties were the "Toyota" years. Mohamed was among of the first to explore the vast emptyness of the Tanezrouft desert as well as the adjacent Malian and Mauritainian desert in search for new trading routes with the early Toyota Land Cruisers.
After ten years of moving between Mali and Algeria, he returned home to In Salah, established a familly with, his charmant wife, Fatma, from Timbuktu - and founded Tanezrouft Voyages.
